FA Cup: Fabio Da Silva, Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (PA)

Despite succumbing to a shock 1-0 reverse against Premier League new-boys Burnley, Fabio da Silva believes that Manchester United will not feel the loss of prolific winger Cristiano Ronaldo and tireless engine Carlos Tevez as the club have recruited well.

"I do not believe that we are weaker," the attack-minded left-back recently explained to the press.

"The club has signed Antonio Valencia, who is a very good player, in the place of Cristiano Ronaldo, and [Michael] Owen.

"Clearly, Cristiano is the best in the world, but we are going to handle this situation and we will fight for the championship," he concluded.

Fabio is one of the club's rising stars, along with twin brother Rafael, who occupies the full-back berth on the opposite side. Both players were acquired when they were 15, but only joined the club last summer.

The Brazilians have been earmarked for a promising future and will likely receive extra pitch-time throughout the coming campaign as Fabio has shaken off the leg injury that kept him sidelined at the start of last term and Rafael looked increasingly strong throughout the year.
