United prepare huge Villa bid

Manchester United are prepared to launch a massive bid for Valencia's David Villa, despite the player's desire to stay in Spain.

United are reportedly willing to take the Villa saga to new heights with a bid worth £40million (€47million).

Although Valencia have so far managed to hold on to the Spain international striker, such an enormous offer would no doubt be too good to refuse.

If Valencia were to accept the offer it would then only be a matter of convincing the player to make the move to England and negotiating a contract.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told the club's board that every possible option should be taken to secure Villa's signature, leaving the door open for even higher bids to follow.

United received £80million (€94 million) from Real Madrid for winger Cristiano Ronaldo, and are looking for a forward to replace him as well as striker Carlos Tevez, who appears to be on his way to rivals Manchester City.

Villa has been linked heavily with a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, but with United prepared to offer so much for the player, they may manage to hijack the deal from right under their noses.

The Red Devils are also said to be pursuing Lyon forward Karim Benzema, another endeavor which could see them clash with representatives from Real Madrid.
