Tottenham move in for Young

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is rumoured to be working day and night to secure the transfer of Aston Villa’s Ashley Young.

And Redknapp is thinking of giving up David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas to land Young in a swap.

The PFA Young Player of the Year is on top of Redknapp's shortlist for a quality left winger.

And he is adamant on getting his man after failing to tempt Gareth Barry to North London.

It was during negotiations that the Spurs' boss found out about Martin O'Neill's interest in Jenas.

Now Spurs will attempt to put together a player-swap deal that would be worth £20million.

Villa forked out £9.65m for Young in 2007 and extended his contract last November, in a deal that will see him earn at least £40,000-a-week contract to 2012.

Tottenham are rumoured to be ready to pay him £55,000 a week
