According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Arsenal have contacted Serie A duo Milan and Inter with regard to signing Emmanuel Adebayor during the close-season.
It is claimed that the Gunners are willing to sell the 25-year-old, but they have offered him to Italian clubs in the hope of staving off interest from fellow Premier League outfit Chelsea.
Apparently, the north London-based club are looking to receive around €29.1 million (£25m) in exchange for the 6ft 3in striker.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger harbours concerns that neither the Rossoneri nor the Nerazzurri will want to take the 39-time capped Togo international, who has scored 35 goals for Les Eperviers.
Indeed, the former Monaco and Metz star's agent revealed on Tuesday that he has not received any enquiries from Milan, and stated that his client would like to work with new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.
