Having admitted that they are now ready to give up their pursuit of Valencia striker, David Villa, Real Madrid are now prepared to focus their full attention on completing the transfer of their third ‘Galactico’, Franck Ribery.
Spanish sports daily, AS has reported that in the past few days, talks between Madrid and Bayern Munich have entered the advanced stages but unlike the Villa saga, Los Blancos are hoping to keep negotiations under the radar and out of the public eye, while the Bavarians only want the announcements to be made to the media if and when the deal is completed.
The paper also believes that Ribery’s agent, Alan Migliaccio, acting as the intermediary for both clubs, is trying to convince Bayern to lower their €60 million asking price and discussions are expected to continue into the week.
It is said that the French international has already contacted his employers via telephone to let them know that his sole target is to join Madrid and he has even demanded that they reach a resolution soon with their Spanish counterparts.
AS has even gone as far as to speculate that Ribery has decided where he wants to stay in Madrid: the Conde de Orgaz residential district, the same neighbourhood as where his mentor, Zinedine Zidane currently resides.
