Santa Cruz to Man city!

Prolific hitman Roque Santa Cruz's mega-money move to Manchester City from Blackburn Rovers could be finalised over the coming days as he is currently undergoing a medical, according to Sky Sports News.

During the former Bayern Munich ace's rookie season in the Premier League, he notched an impressive 23 goals in 43 appearances that was supplemented by a further eight assists. However, he failed to recreate that form during his second season as injuries de-railed his campaign.

As such, his medical has already been speculated to be a gruelling ordeal as, despite Mark Hughes' eagerness to link up with the 27-year-old again, he is all too aware of the player's injury record, and will be particularly wary of Santa Cruz's problematic knee.

Should the Paraguayan international, who has struck 20 times for his country, pass the medical, then City are expected to pay Rovers £18 million; which was the club's seventh bid for the player in the past year and a half.

Santa Cruz will be Hughes' second major signing of the season, after central midfielder Gareth Barry transferred to the Eastlands outfit earlier in the month.

Despite also boasting samba star Robinho and Welsh wizard Craig Bellamy in their attacking armoury, City are also reported to be lining up bids for a further striker, and are allegedly interested in Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o, and Manchester United's wantaway tireless forward Carlos Tevez.
