Tevez to city

According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Carlos Tevez will put pen-to-paper on a move to Manchester City at some point this week.

It was announced on Saturday that the 25-year-old would not be playing for Manchester United next season, and that Chelsea and City were leading the race for his signature, while a move to Liverpool had been ruled out.

However, the west London outfit have since been quoted as saying that they are not interested in acquiring the services of the 50-time capped Argentina international, paving the way for the Citizens to land him.

It is now being claimed that the 5ft 6in striker decided long before the end of the 2008/09 campaign that he would not stay at Old Trafford and that a switch to their cross-city rivals had been agreed a fortnight ago.

City have apparently agreed to pay the £25.5 million asking-price to purchase El Apache's economic rights, and subsequently negotiated a contract worth around £100,000-a-week with the former Boca Juniors, Corinthians and West Ham United star.
