Manchester City are prepared to offer a swap deal involving playmaker Elano in order to bring Inter's Maicon to Manchester.
Manchester City have been very active in the transfer market over the summer thanks to transfer funds from their new Abu Dhabi-based owners
The club have already secured Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn and are looking set to sign Carlos Tevez from cross-town rivals Manchester United.
It appears that City are now looking to bolster their defence, with the club reportedly ready to offer Inter Milan €22 million, plus midfielder Elano, to secure star right-back Maicon.
Maicon's superb performances for the Scudetto-winning Inter team, as well as for Brazil in the Confederations Cup, have brought him to the attention of many of Europe's big clubs including Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Despite all this interest, City remain the only club to have actually made an offer to Inter sporting director Marco Branca.
The Serie A champions are apparently evaluating City's offer, despite the player publicly stating that he wishes to join a team competing in next season's Champions League.
