Chelsea’s €18 million Zhirkov pursuit
The Blues are set to make Yuri Zhirkov their first signing this offseason, despite tabling bids for other players as well.
The transfer of Zhirkov will hopefully usher in more signings to Stamford Bridge, and help bolster the Blues squad for the upcoming campaign.
Chelsea's failure to sign any players on their wish-list is the product of their free-spending ways in recent years, with the club now unwilling to fork out sky-high transfer fees and excessive wages for their targets.
The Blues' representatives will be negotiating with Zhirkov's club, CSKA Moscow, with his price tag set at approximately €18 million.
The Russian winger is set to challenge Florent Malouda for his position on the left flank.
