Carlo eager to recruit Carlos

Wigan Athletic v Manchester United - Premier League

Carlo Ancelotti has allegedly called Carlos Tevez, who is on holiday, with a message: Join me at Stamford Bridge.

Tevez, who is on vacation in Buenos Aires, was surprised to hear from the Chelsea boss.

However, the Argentine striker was also impressed that Ancelotti had taken the time to call him personally over the weekend. This has led to Chelsea, and not Manchester City, leading the race to sign Tevez.

A source close to the Argentina national team said: "Carlos was stunned to get the call from Ancelotti but also very pleased."

"Ancelotti did a great job selling the move and Carlos was impressed."

Tevez was taking a break after last week's exertions in the World Cup qualifiers. Ancelotti had gotten hold of his cell phone number from the hitman's former national team-mate Hernan Crespo.

Ancelotti has also persuaded Crespo to give Tevez a call to put in a good word for the West London club.

Former Blues striker Crespo agreed to do so and told Tevez what Ancelotti would do to advance his career.

Chelsea then have to table a £26 million bid that the player's agent and co-owner Kia Joorabchian requires for the free agent.
