Maicon wants European success

Inter Milan v Manchester United - UEFA Champions LeagueInter Milan right-back Maicon has admitted his ultimate desire is to win the Champions League, either with or without the Nerazzurri.

The Brazil international has been an impressive presence since joining the club in 2006, but believes things have to change if Inter are to win Europe's biggest prize - something that has eluded them since the 1960's.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in his services, but the former Monaco man has committed his future to the San Siro for now.

Goal.com Italia reported him as saying "Madrid are a great club and it would be really nice to play there, but I have a contract with Inter until 2011

"My future? We'll see. Myself and other Inter players really want to win the Champions League trophy, but something at Inter has to change. We want to win with Inter, but if we cannot then we will go to another team," he concluded.

The Italian champions have failed in the early knock-out stages for four consecutive seasons, being ousted by Villarreal, Valencia, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
