Ribery may go to CHELSEA?

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are understood to have agreed a massive £43million fee with Chelseafor French International Franck Ribery, according to reports.

26-year-old Ribery had been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United, with Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson believed to have marked the winger as the player to fill the void, should Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford this summer.

However, with Ronaldo maintaining that he wishes to stay at United the interest in Ribery has cooled from Ferguson, but now the Scot looks set to lose out if Ronaldo does leave for long-term pursuers Real Madrid. It claimed thatPremiership rivals Chelsea have agreed the huge fee with Bayern for the diminutive winger to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the close season.

Although this massive fee, is said to have been agreed it is understood that there is still some way to go in finalising the personal-terms for Ribery, with the midfielder said to want £125,000-a-week after tax to leave the Allianz Arena.

Official’s from the Blues are believed to not want to offer more than £90,000, but with talks at an advanced stage a compromise should be reached with Ribery, who currently earns £134,000-a-week at the German club.

Ribery had also been a target for La Liga giants Real Madrid, while Spanish champions Barcelona, who were favourites to land the Frenchman pulled out of the running after details of the talks with Bayern were made public.

Should Ribery arrive at Chelsea this summer it would set a new British transfer record, with the previous record set last year after the £32.5million outlay by Manchester City for Brazilian Robinho from Los Blancos.
