Perrotta may leave Rome

AS Roma v Reggina Calcio - Serie AAS Roma’s Italian international midfielder Simone Perrotta may be forced to leave the club this summer.

Reports from Italy claim that Giuseppe Bozzo, Perrotta's agent, has suggested the possibility of his client leaving this summer. Perrotta made 31 appearances for Roma last season, but is yet to agree to a contract extension.

"Simone's will at this time is to stay in Rome, but at this point we cannot say a transfer is not possible," Bozzo told Datasport.

After a disappointing campaign in which they failed to seal a Champions League berth, Roma may well have to sell some of their top players.

"We will evaluate any offers with the club. However, it will depend on them whether or not they are accepted."

Perrotta made the switch to Roma in 2004 after impressing for Chievo Verona, and has spent five years at the club. The 31-year old was a part of Italy's 2006 World Cup winning side, and is also a fan favourite at the Stadio Olimpico.

Reports have linked him with Fiorentina, but it seems more likely that he might go to the Bundesliga, with both Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg said to have him on their wish lists.
