Villa will only go to Anfield

New Zealand v Spain - FIFA Confederations Cup

David Villa has ruled out the possibility of a Premier League move unless it is alongside compatriot, Fernando Torres.

According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, Villa has been quoted as saying that he would only move to England to link up with his compatriots at Liverpool, including strike partner Torres, midfielder Xabi Alonso and manager Rafa Benitez.

Apparently, the 27-year-old has informed close friends that he would only consider swapping Spain for England if it was to represent Liverpool.

While Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be interested in acquiring his signature, this news will mean that he is not interested in playing for either of the Premiership giants.

The news, if true, has seemingly rejected the possibility of seeing the Spain international grabbing goals in the Premier League.

Villa, who has scored 29 goals for his country and helped them win the European Championships last year, has been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona as well, and a move closer to home seems more and more plausible given these claims.

Liverpool are unlikely to have the financial resources to bid for the forward, but if they do manage to acquire him, they will have a formidable strike duo to contend with.
